Ziua 3: Villa de Leyva
Bogota - Zipaquira (Salt Cathedral) - Villa de Leyva
Breakfast. At the indicated time we will leave the city heading north of the country on a full day tour to move to Villa de Leyva, one of the Heritage towns for Colombians because it preserves all the white houses and the architecture of the time of the cologne. On the way, we will arrive at the city of Zipaquirá, whose name means "city of our Father" in the Chibcha language. In pre-Columbian times, saline springs were exploited in this region to produce 'breads of salt', strong currency with which the Muiscas traded. Over time, technology improved and the muiscas began to extract larger amounts of salt. As a result, an underground salt deposit was formed and it is where the Salt Cathedral was built, 180 meters below the surface. Inside, there is a chapel, “capilla de los mineros” built as a tribute to the Virgin “Our Lady of the Rosary of Guasá” (Guasá means 'mine' in Chibcha). Afterwards, time to have a typical lunch on the way and continue the journey to the historic Boyacá Bridge where there will be a brief stop and then continue the journey until you reach Villa de Leyva. Accommodation.
Note: The entrance to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral is not recommended for people with mobility restrictions, claustrophobic or pregnant women.

The first stop will be at “El Puente de Boyacá”, where the battle in which the Country acquired its definite independence took place. Here you will see the obelisk and the triumphal arch. The tour will continue towards Tunja (which means 'mighty man' in Chibcha), a town that in times of the Muiscas was already of great relevance and continued to be so in the colonial times. There you will take a walk to visit the Founder's House, the home of the notary public Juan de Vargas and the Santo Domingo church, among other places. Then, you will head to Villa de Leyva (lunch included), where you will take a walk along the town to see the old colonial houses that have been transformed into museums and the convent of the Holy Ecce Homo, which since 1620 has attracted pilgrims from around the globe. At the end of this experience, we will return to Bogota.
