FLY & DRIVE: Calabria and Campania

Arrival at Lamezia Terme Airport. Arrival and check-in at the hotel in Tropea.

Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning to spend a few pleasant hours in the beautiful beaches of Calabria (private beach or Lido Affi liated). Afternoon transfer on your own car to Pizzo Calabro and visit the Church of Piedigrotta, a church near the Sea built inside a rock wall. Visit Murat Castle and walk in the city center of Pizzo, where you can taste the famous “Tartufo” a typical ice cream of the area, famous and exported all over the world. Return to the hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at your hotel accommodation.

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer on your own car to Tropea’s Port, where you can sail to Aeolian Islands. Day tour with visits of the three islands: Stromboli, Panarea and Vulcano. The Aeolian Islands are a famous Sicilian archipelagos, reachable in a few hours of navigation, rich in history and traditions and famous for the presence of two active volcanoes. In each of the islands you can have some free time to explore the streets of the small villages which are mostly near the coast. Evening return to Tropea’s port. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at your hotel accommodation.

Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning to spend at your own leisure to the beautiful beaches of Calabria (private beach or Lido affiliated). Consider visiting the Lighthouse in Capo Vaticano and transfer to the old town of Tropea, a typical medieval village built overlooking the sea. Visit the Cathedral and the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, which ends with a small square, from where you can dominate and enjoy the beautiful views of the Costa degli Dei. In the evening, return to the hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at your hotel accommodation. 

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer on your own by car to Paola, where you can visit San Francesco’s Sanctuary, a place of pilgrimage of many faithful devotees to the Saint with Calabrian origins. Transfer to Maratea, where you can visit the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. The statue is the work of the Florentine sculptor Bruno Innocenti, it is 22 meters high and stands on top of Monte San Biagio. Departure to the hotel in Naples area. Dinner on your own and overnight at the hotel.

Naples is a city with one of the greatest density of cultural resources and monuments in the world, testifying to its historical and artistic evolution. The old town, in 1995, was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Among the points of interest, it’s mandatory to report Castel dell’ Ovo, tour of underground Naples, Piazza del Plebiscito, the National Archaeological Museum, Cappella San Severo, and much more. In the evening, return to the hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at your hotel accommodation.

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer on your own by car to Pompeii, the Roman city buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Guided tour of the archaeological site. With its area of archaeological excavations that extends for about 44 hectares and the state of preservation of its buildings, due to the particular burial (under a blanket of 6 meters of ash and rock) caused by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, Pompeii can be considered the only archaeological site which gives the real image of a roman city. Climb the Vesuvius up to 1000 meters, then, escorted by a specialized guide, walk to the summit. Vesuvius is one of the most studied volcanoes in the world, it overlooks the Gulf of Naples with its characteristic cone. Proceeding along the rim of the crater, you can see the whole extent of the southern part of the volcano and during days with good visibility, you can see the entire Gulf of Naples, from the Sorrento peninsula to Cape Miseno, Procida and Ischia.
