About the destination: Perhaps no city is as fabulous as Venice, a metropolis built upon stilts, a maze perched over a lagoon. Venice has been dubbed the parlour of Europe, and indeed for centuries the city was a haven for ideas and idealists, a crossroads of the Byzantine and Roman worlds. Today Venice is a different kind of parlour. Wealthy visitors scramble into gondolas to gawk at the Byzantine palaces while being serenaded by accordionists and art lovers strain for a glimpse of Renaissance masterpieces. No monument is as memorable as the city itself, so use the major sights only as an excuse for wandering. Venice revolves around Piazza San Marco. The best feature of the mosaic-covered Basilica di San Marco is the Pala D’Oro, a glittering gold Byzantine bas-relief. The Torre dell’Orologio, to the left of San Marco, is a beautifully adorned clock tower. For culture enthusiasts, check the Accademia for the best of Venetian paintings. Some say that the tourist Venice is indeed Venice, but there are other Venices as well. To find them, wander away from the major sights and into the quieter outlying residential areas, you won’t be disappointed, this labyrinth of stone and colour radiates enchantment from every brick.

About the destination: The Province of Verona is a province in the Veneto administrative region of Italy. On its northwestern border, Lake Garda – Italy's largest – is divided between Verona and the provinces of Brescia (Lombardy region) and Trentino (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region). Its capital is the city of Verona. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The province is cosmopolitan in nature. A pleasant stop on your walk along the waterfront, the temple to Volta is designed in neoclassical style. • War Memorial. • City Walls. The ruins of the 12th century city walls, which enclose the narrow, winding streets of the old town. • Isola Comacina. A small island with ruins of several Byzantine churches.

About the destination: The Metropolitan City of Milan is a metropolitan city in the Lombardy region, Italy. Its capital is the city of Milan. It replaced the Province of Milan and includes the city of Milan and another 133 municipalities or communes (comuni). It was first created by the reform of local authorities (Law 142/1990) and then established by the Law 56/2014. It has been operational since 1 January 2015. The Metropolitan City of Milan is led by the Metropolitan Mayor (Sindaco metropolitano) and by the Metropolitan Council (Consiglio metropolitano). Since June 2016 Giuseppe Sala, as mayor of the capital city, has been the mayor of the Metropolitan City.
